White reflector
The light reflected by the white reflector is very subtle. Because its reflective performance is not very strong, its effect appears soft and natural. When you need to add a little light, use this reflector to fill in the details of the shadow. This situation is often used when using similar window lighting, which can make the shadow part more detailed.
Silver Reflector
Because the silver reflector is bright and smooth as a mirror. It can produce brighter light. Silver reflector is the most commonly used reflector. The effect of this reflector can be easily reflected in the subject's eyes, resulting in a large and bright eye light. When it is cloudy and light is mainly emitted from above the subject's head, put it directly under the subject's face, make it just outside the camera field of view, and reflect the top light onto the subject's face. Under cloudy light conditions, white reflectors do not have such a strong effect
Gold Reflector
Use a gold reflector to fill the light in daylight. Like the silver reflector, it reflects light like a smooth mirror, but in contrast to the cool silver reflector, it produces a warmer tone of light. Gold reflectors are more commonly used as the main light. Take a backlight portrait in the bright sun, and reflect the light to the subject's face from the side and slightly higher. The reflector has two functions: one is to obtain directional light that can irradiate the subject's face, and can increase the exposure of the subject's face by one block; Second, the exposure difference from background to foreground can be reduced, so that the background will not be seriously overexposed.
Black reflector
This reflector is different because it is not technically a reflector. It is a "light reducing plate" or "light absorbing plate". The use of other reflectors works according to the light adding method to add light to the scene. The use of black reflectors is the use of dimming method to reduce the amount of light. Why use black reflectors? For various reasons, people often have to shoot with annoying top light. The face photographed with this light often produces "raccoon eyes". By placing a black reflector on your subject's head, you can reduce the overhead light.
